 HOW TO MAKE TOSTADAS
 (“TOASTED” Tortillas) 
                                                          Tostadas are one of the easiest, healthiest and most economical Mexican dishes that you can prepare.

Made from  fried corn tortillas and topped with refried beans, lettuce, tomato, cheese and other delicious toppings, your family or guests will really enjoy eating them!  

Tostadas can be purchased ready to eat from the ethnic section of your supermarket.  However, if your store does not carry them, you can make them yourself...but, you will need a pack of corn tortillas.

                            HOW TO MAKE ENCHILADAS


                              (“Tortillas cooked in  chile sauce”)


                        Enchiladas are a delicious and spicy

                        way to prepare corn tortillas. The

tortillas are lightly warmed, quickly fried and dipped in green or red enchilada sauce. Fill with your favorite fillings:  ground beef, shredded chicken, potatoes and cheese, or just cheese.  Top them off with toppings of your choice and ENJOY!

                                          Tacos are a fun food made from fried corn

                                   tortillas filled with a variety of delicious

                                   fillings: ground beef, shredded chicken or

                                   refried beans and garnished with lettuce,

                                   tomato, shredded cheese, guacamole, sour cream and hot sauce. ¡Deliciosos!


                                         The easiest way to prepare TACOS

                                                   is to use the taco shells that are found

                                          in the ethnic food section of the

                                          grocery store.  All you have to do is

                                          prepare the desired filling and the

                                          toppings. Set them up like a buffet and have your guests or your family prepare their tacos just “their way.” A messy but FUN food to eat! And what a tasty way to get your main food groups- protein, vegetables, dairy and grain.



  1. Prepare your filling:

ground beef, ground turkey, shredded chicken, refried beans, etc.


Pictured below is ground turkey which is fried and to which taco seasoning is added. You can also spice your meat with your own seasonings such as salt and pepper, onions, etc. if you prefer not to use taco seasoning.







  1. Prepare your toppings:

     shredded lettuce, diced tomato,

     cheese, guacamole,

     hot sauce, sour cream
